  • Wi-Fi credentialsWIFI:S:NetworkName;T:WPA;P:Password;;
  • Email addressmailto:hello@example.com
  • Phone numbertel:+919876543210

Choosing the Right Error Correction Level

QR codes have built-in error correction that allows them to be read even when partially damaged or obscured. There are four levels:

L (Low) — 7% of data can be restored
M (Medium) — 15% of data can be restored ← default
Q (High) — 25% of data can be restored
H (Highest)— 30% of data can be restored
💡

Use H level for QR codes that will be printed on textured surfaces, placed on curved objects, or will have your logo overlaid in the centre.

Best Practices for Printed QR Codes

Minimum size

Print QR codes at a minimum of 2cm × 2cm (about 0.8 inches square). Smaller than this and most phone cameras struggle to scan reliably.

Contrast

Dark modules on a light background. Avoid reversing to white-on-dark — some scanners cannot read inverted QR codes. Maintain a contrast ratio of at least 4:1.

Quiet zone

Always include a quiet zone (white border) around the QR code — at least 4 modules wide. The EazyTools generator includes this automatically with the "Add quiet zone" option.

Test before printing

Always scan the QR code on your phone before sending files to print. Test in bright light, low light, and at different angles.

Common Use Cases with Examples

Restaurant menu

Link to a PDF or webpage with your menu. Update the destination URL anytime without reprinting the QR code (use a URL shortener like bit.ly as the encoded URL).

Wi-Fi sharing

Encode your Wi-Fi credentials so guests can connect by scanning instead of typing a complex password. Format: WIFI:S:MyNetwork;T:WPA;P:MyP@ssword;;

Business card

Encode your LinkedIn profile URL or website so contacts can save your details instantly.

Payment links

Link to UPI payment pages, PayPal.me links, or other payment platforms for quick in-person payments.
