Metric vs Imperial — The Basics

Length:
  1 kilometre = 0.621 miles
  1 metre = 3.281 feet = 39.37 inches
  1 centimetre = 0.394 inches

Weight:
  1 kilogram = 2.205 pounds
  1 gram = 0.035 ounces

Volume:
  1 litre = 0.264 US gallons = 1.76 UK pints
  1 mL = 0.034 US fl oz

Temperature Conversion

Celsius to Fahrenheit: F = (C × 9/5) + 32
Fahrenheit to Celsius: C = (F − 32) × 5/9
Celsius to Kelvin: K = C + 273.15

Common references:
  0°C = 32°F (freezing)
  20°C = 68°F (room temperature)
  37°C = 98.6°F (body temperature)
  100°C = 212°F (boiling)

Indian Land Area Units

Note: values vary by state — these are approximate national averages

1 Bigha ≈ 1,337 m² (varies: 843–6,771 m² by state)
1 Biswa ≈ 133.7 m² (1/10 Bigha)
1 Katha ≈ 66.9 m²
1 Guntha ≈ 101.2 m²
1 Acre = 4,047 m² = 43,560 sq ft
1 Hectare = 10,000 m² = 2.471 acres

Digital Storage Units

8 bits = 1 Byte
1,024 B = 1 Kilobyte (KB)
1,024 KB = 1 Megabyte (MB)
1,024 MB = 1 Gigabyte (GB)
1,024 GB = 1 Terabyte (TB)

Note: storage manufacturers use 1,000 (not 1,024) per unit
