How the calculations work
- —Lump sum mode: yearly compounding at the given CAGR — FV = PV × (1 + r)^n.
- —SIP mode: monthly contributions with an equivalent monthly compounding rate derived from the annual CAGR.
- —Target mode: inverts the formulas to find the lump sum or monthly SIP required to reach your goal.
Planning tips
- —Use realistic CAGR — 8–12% for long-term equity mutual funds (India), 6–8% for balanced funds.
- —Play with tenure vs. contribution to see trade-offs — time in market matters more than timing.
- —Revisit the plan annually as income and goals evolve.
- —This tool uses INR by default but is currency-neutral — switch to SEK, USD or EUR as needed.
