Public IP & Geo Lookup
See your public IP address and approximate geolocation. Optionally look up other IPs. Useful for debugging VPNs, servers, and network issues.
Your public IP
This is the IP address the internet sees for your device or network right now.
Look up another IP
Enter an IPv4 or IPv6 address to see its approximate location. Useful for checking servers, VPN endpoints, or login activity.
Please use this responsibly. Do not use IP lookup data to harass, stalk, or violate anyone’s privacy.
What is a public IP?
Your public IP address is how the rest of the internet sees your device or router. It’s usually assigned by your internet service provider (ISP) or VPN provider, and can be shared by multiple devices behind the same router.
When you visit websites, they see this public IP — not your private local IP (like 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x).
Why the location is only approximate
Geo IP data comes from public databases that map IP ranges to ISPs and regions. It is usually accurate at the city or region level, but it does not reveal your exact street address.
Privacy & security tips
- Use a VPN if you don’t want websites to see your real public IP.
- Never share your IP together with sensitive personal details in public forums.
- When debugging login alerts, compare the approximate city/ISP with your expected location.
- Remember: IP-based location is not perfect. It can be off by many kilometers, or show the location of your ISP’s data center instead.
FAQ
Is this my exact physical location?
No. Geo IP databases usually only know an approximate city or region. They can be wrong, and they generally do not expose exact street addresses.
Why does the IP change sometimes?
Many ISPs use dynamic IP addresses. Rebooting your router or waiting for a lease to expire can cause your public IP to change. Using a VPN will also show a completely different IP and country.
Is it safe to share my IP?
Sharing just your IP is usually not enough for someone to directly attack you, but it does reveal your ISP and approximate region. Avoid posting it publicly unless needed for support purposes.
